Introduction
The Polar Bear (Ursus Maritimus), is a carnivorous bear which lives within the Arctic circle. The scientific name means 'maritime bear' and as this name indicates, the majority of their life is spent at sea. They can weigh as much as 700 kg and feed mainly on seal, although they can eat many other animals which live in that ecosystem. Despite being closely related to the brown bear, the polar bear has evolved for life in the Arctic.
